@ajennische been working at the kitchen table this week since my wife isn’t feeling well. No kids but gotta watch out for the dog and cat. It’s not as comfortable as my desk, but it’s not too bad.
@gpittman an interesting read to be sure. What’s the most striking thing to me is that, as a high tech company, the founders seem to be tone deaf to the hacker culture of the engineers building their company for them. This sort of thing might seem small to them - don’t talk about x topic in y place - but to a lot of people that’s “how it starts.” So either the founders don’t understand their employees or they don’t care. And neither is a good look.
@Gaby Like you said I don’t have any info about their decision. One thing that did bug me is that they decry their own previous “paternalistic” benefits (gym membership among others) and in the same post complain that their employees talk about politics in the worldchat too much so they’re making them stop it. Seems to me that’s pretty “paternalistic” behavior in and of itself 🤪
